    Saturday, May 10: APWU Supports NALC's Annual Food Drive

    (04/29/14) APWU President Mark Dimondstein is urging APWU members to actively support the 22nd annual Letter Carriers Food Drive, which is set for May. 10. "I urge every APWU member to make a generous donation" he said. "But I also encourage our members to do more. I hope APWU locals -- and individual union members -- will volunteer to help with the organizational tasks that are necessary to ensure the success of the drive."

    APWU Members at BB Trucking Ratify Tentative Agreement

    (04/28/14) Members of the Great Lakes Area Mail Haulers Local APWU have voted to ratify a Tentative Agreement reached on March 29. Contract ratification ballots were mailed to the 100 APWU members of the local; 62 were returned, with 34 voting in favor of the agreement and 20 voting against. Eight ballots were disqualified.

    Postal Workers, Supporters Protest at Staples Stores Across Country

    (Updated 04/25/14) APWU members and supporters ramped up the fight to Stop Staples and its bid to open postal counters in 1,500 stores nationwide at events across the country on April 24, a National Day of Action. Protests were held in 56 locations in 27 states. In Washington, DC more than 200 people marched through the streets to a Staples store holding signs that read, "Stop Staples. The US Mail is Not for Sale," and chanting, "Whose post office? The people's Post Office!"

    Correcting Dues for Newly Converted PSEs

    (04/25/14) A number of Postal Support Employees (PSEs) were converted to career positions recently, necessitating an adjustment in their union dues, reports Secretary-Treasurer Liz Powell. "The Postal Service will change the employees' status to career," she said, "however, union dues will not be automatically adjusted."

    APWU Nurses Approve Contract

    (04/23/14) In a unanimous vote of 33-0, members of the National Postal Professional Nurses-APWU approved a Tentative Collective Bargaining Agreement with the USPS on April 23.
